Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.
Players have started resorting to custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of getting a dozen out of forty-one main guns available in the game.
Several of these gated guns might eventually find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Task
One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
Yet, if doing the challenges in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.
Currently, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced player experience in future updates.
