Football Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle

In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a close win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to secure the hard-fought win.

Defensive Performance Seals Contest

Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards throughout the contest.

The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes remaining.

Historic Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a potential victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a long kick.

Fields struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn stated following the game.
