Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim feels the strain during their 3-1 defeat at opponents
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot ignore from his troubling record and says it is understandable that club legends are commenting on him.
On Tuesday, United's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney told his show that "the heart has vanished" from his old team.
The Portuguese manager has achieved just eighteen wins from his forty-nine matches in control, including 9 out of 33 in the Premier League, where he has still to secure back-to-back successive wins.
While senior club sources are insistent that Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains supportive the manager, failure to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will spark new rumors about his role heading into the upcoming two-week pause in domestic football.
"This is expected," said the Portugal-born coach, when questioned about the former striker's comments. "One cannot hide from the outcomes."
"Then you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me is in the past."
Supporter Reaction and Present Circumstances
United's fans stayed behind their manager following last season's disappointing performance, when they ended up fifteenth in the league - their worst performance since the 1973-74 relegation season - and were beaten in the Europa League showpiece, in the belief that this season would be substantially better.
The manager promised fans the position would change because he had greater time to prepare with his squad without the weekly distraction of continental football.
However is not been how the initial six games have developed as United have endured three defeats so far and are currently fourteenth in the standings.
Manager's Response to Concerns
When asked what guarantees he could give fans that the situation will change, Amorim added: "It's not the moment to talk, it is the moment to demonstrate."
"Personally look at the fixtures in the current campaign and, for me, they are totally varied, but I have little to comment at the current time."
