Prince William Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America

The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by the royal household.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a reception preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were present at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the climate conference.

Palace insiders have described Prince William's attendance at the next COP as taking on an significant responsibility in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation featured addresses in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Link

The UN meeting will dovetail with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.

Recently the William referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
